🦋 About us:

Leila Parsa – Founder of The Butterfly Concept

My journey began far from Sweden, in the Iranian part of Kurdistan. I grew up amidst conflict, war, and displacement. As the oldest of five siblings, I carried great responsibility from an early age – especially after my father was murdered when I was 16. Just two weeks later, we arrived in Sweden as UN refugees.

I didn't speak the language, but I had something else – a strong will to create something better. Something I myself lacked as a child: security, joy, and meaning.

When I became a mother, I saw the need for a preschool that truly sees the whole child. Not just as a student – but as a human being. I followed my intuition and built my first preschool from the heart.
It wasn't until years later, through a meeting with Professor Alan Dilani, that I understood everything I had created had a scientific foundation: the salutogenic theory.

The Butterfly Concept – From Grief to Vitality

The butterfly symbolizes my own transformation – from a girl in the shadow of war to a social entrepreneur and concept creator in Sweden.
But it also symbolizes every child's journey: from chrysalis to wings. From dependence to independence. From chaos to meaning.

Today, The Butterfly Concept is a holistic model for preschool and school – where architecture, interior design, pedagogy, and environment work in harmony. The concept is research-based and internationally award-winning, with a strong foundation in salutogenic design and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I built everything from scratch – physically, pedagogically, and emotionally. To give children what I never had.
