🏡 About the Preschool

Our preschool is part of a unique and award-winning holistic concept – The Butterfly Concept – where architecture, interior design, pedagogy, and environment work in harmony to create a space where children thrive, develop, and blossom.

Our approach is based on the salutogenic theory, which emphasizes that, just like adults, children need a sense of comprehensibility, manageability, and meaningfulness in their everyday lives. This means the environment should be clear and accessible, relationships should be safe and secure, and teaching should be rooted in real-life experiences.

At Fjärilen, every part of the preschool is shaped with care and grounded in science – from natural lighting and acoustics to color choices, recycled materials, and thoughtful design. Our learning environments are created to promote independence, curiosity, and social interaction. We work in small project groups where the children's questions, interests, and experiences guide the learning process.

For us, preschool is not just a place – it's a whole system where every detail matters. A child who feels safe, seen, and meaningfully involved doesn't just learn more effectively – they build self-esteem and inner strength for life.

🎓 Educational Approach

We work from a salutogenic perspective, focusing on what helps children feel well and experience a sense of belonging. Our preschool environment is infused with security, participation, joy, and community. Project-based learning in small groups gives each child real influence over their daily experiences.

We're also inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, where children are seen as competent, curious, and full of potential. Educators are responsive, co-explorers, and create environments that challenge and inspire. Our indoor and outdoor learning environments are continuously adapted to children's interests and needs.

We base our projects on real-world themes supported by research. By exploring topics from the children's everyday surroundings – such as nature, society, the body, and the environment – we build understanding, engagement, and connection. This strengthens each child's sense of coherence (KASAM) and prepares them for the future.

We follow the Swedish Preschool Curriculum (Lpfö 18), the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and local municipal guidelines.

🥗 Food

We strive to offer nutritious, tasty food that fuels both play and learning. Meals are provided by Sodexo, a trusted supplier with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and organic options – values that align with our own environmental philosophy and our desire to serve food that's good for both children and the planet.

🤝 Collaboration with Guardians

We build strong, trusting relationships with guardians from day one – through introduction sessions, welcome talks, and consistent follow-ups. Daily communication continues via the digital platform Tyra.

📱 Through Tyra, guardians can get insight into their child's daily life, follow their development via portfolios, manage schedules, and communicate directly with the staff. The platform is secure, user-friendly, and strengthens the home–preschool connection.

We also offer parent meetings twice a year, open houses, drop-in coffee events, and an active parent council.
New for the autumn is our initiative "Open Saturdays" – offering free childcare once per term to support parental recovery and family well-being.

📊 Every year, guardians are also invited to participate in an anonymous survey, helping us gather feedback for continuous improvement.

👩‍🏫 Our Staff

Our team is made up of dedicated and qualified educators with a broad range of expertise. We actively work with reflection and ongoing training to provide the best possible conditions for children's development.

Leadership is clear, present, and supportive.

📉 To free up more time for the children, we've introduced streamlined routines that reduce administrative workload. Documentation is handled digitally in a way that doesn't interfere with the interaction between educators and children.

🏆 We also highlight and celebrate our educators' contributions through regular recognition and awards – something that makes Fjärilen truly unique.
